CT Rises In New Ranking Of Best States To Live In US
From strong schools and health care to high incomes and low crime, several Northeast states are among the best places to live, according to a new study.
WalletHub released its 2026 Best States to Live In list on Monday, Aug. 10. The study ranked all 50 states using 51 measures of livability, from housing affordability and income growth to education, health, quality of life, and safety.

Man Charged With Bridgeport Hit-Run Crash That Killed 81-Year-Old Woman
A Connecticut man has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run crash last year that killed an 81-year-old pedestrian, authorities said.
Lorenzo Abrajan-Garcia, 49, of Bridgeport, was arrested on Friday, Aug. 7, in connection with the July 13, 2025, crash that killed Angela Pagan, police said.
Prosecutors charged him with negligent homicide with a motor vehicle and evading responsibility involving a death, Bridgeport Police said.

Fairfield International Food Fest Returns With Global Eats, Music, Films
Food, music and culture from around the world will take over Fairfield Theatre Company when the Fairfield International Food Fest returns for its second year.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 5, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Fairfield Theatre Company.
According to Fairfield Theatre Company’s event listing, the festival will feature local food vendors serving cuisine from a variety of cultures, along with live music, cultural performances. and international documentary films.

Popular Connecticut Pizzeria Joining Massachusetts, Italy Favorites at Boston Pizza Festival
Any way you slice it, Boston will become the upper crust of New England’s pizza scene for one weekend next month.
The Boston Pizza Festival returns to City Hall Plaza on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2026, and Sunday, Sept. 20. Organizers expect more than 30 pizzerias to serve slices to over 20,000 guests.
The lineup includes Sally’s Apizza from New Haven. Rossopomodoro at Eataly will also take part. Pizza Taxi from Vico Equense, Italy, will make the trip to Boston.
Raffaele Russo of Boston’s Quattro, whom organizers describe as the world’s sixth-ranked pizza maker, is also set to appear.
